About Our Organization

Jewish World Watch works to mobilize synagogues, their schools, their members and the community to combat genocide and other egregious violations of human rights around the world through education, advocacy, and refugee relief.

Shocked by revelations of mass killings in Darfur, Sudan, and remembering the Holocaust and the many post-Holocaust genocides, Rabbi Harold M. Schulweis of Valley Beth Shalom challenged the Jewish people to begin to honor the promise made following the Holocaust -- that 'Never Again' would we be silent in the face of genocide. With that challenge, Jewish World Watch was established in October, 2004 as a Jewish response to horrors perpetrated by human beings against others.

We are now beginning the 7th year of the Darfur genocide, during which 400,000 innocent Darfuris have been systematically murdered with no end in sight.

We are currently facing a world in which there are over 30 conflicts now at high risk of genocide. Among the most chilling world conflict is the brutal war in Eastern Congo in which over 5.5 million civilians have been slaughtered in the past 12 years.

Through advocacy, education and refugee relief efforts, JWW is committed to combating and preventing genocide worldwide.
